About Pulse 98.4

Pulse is a volunteer-run full-time community radio station (with charitable status) broadcasting from Barrhead to the various communities of East Renfrewshire and beyond. Among our objects, Pulse Community Radio aims:

  • To provide a range of training, development, volunteering and vocational opportunities for local people, promoting active volunteering and maximising the participation opportunities for marginalised and disadvantaged young people
  • To encourage and advance active citizenship in all sections of the community through the making and presenting of radio programmes focused on local issues and concerns
  • To provide an outlet for local talent and expression across a range of artistic disciplines and to promote local undiscovered artists
  • To advance education by providing training for volunteers of all ages, with a particular emphasis on developing the skills, talents and confidence of local young people through links with local schools and colleges
  • To provide a stimulating programming output with a view to raising awareness about local and national heritage issues and to establish a forum for discussion on these issues
  • To promote cultural diversity and community cohesion by providing a right of access to minority and marginalised groups, thereby reflecting the interests and opinions contained within our local communities
